This is heavily attached to social media networks. It’s rare to find a young man or woman (and society in general) that has no activity on social media, because there’s even a perception that indicates “If you are not on social media, you don’t exist.” It’s mainly due to the fact that so many people interact through these channels that include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and several others.

But, as years have gone by, Facebook has kept the status of Top 3 social media Apps, and the reason is obvious: we are fully connected to our social groups through Facebook. We can keep up with our family, friends and information all across the world. There are no longer walls that divide us, at least in that way. There’s a capacity of interconnection and such ease to develop and expand our social circle that is unprecedented.
We, as a society, can connect and actually be a part of a social change through social media. It all comes down to our availability. We can actively participate in work groups, community groups, and all sort of union. Facebook, for example, has expanded its capacity to bring people together. Maybe two or three years ago, we couldn’t start a videoconference without a laptop, a special device, and a specific App. Nowadays, a large group of people can participate in a video conference through Facebook Messenger, Facebook’s platform for chatting and video chatting.
This has caught the attention of almost every person in society. There’s a big number of older people who has signed up to Apps like Facebook because it is an open window to the world. In cases of immigration, there have been great advances; if my parents live in China and I’m in Colombia, we can both know about each other, talk, see ourselves, and that, at the end of the day, is social interaction.
It is important to highlight the fact that we cannot let the virtual world take place over the real world. If you feel like signing up to Facebook, or any social media out in the market, do it because you want to experience closeness to your family and friends. Furthermore, you can play, distract your mind and educate about real problems that affect us as human beings!
